Registration for old syllabus has been closed. Now, a student can register only for New Syllabus. Registration for new scheme will start from 2nd August, 2023
Conversion to New Scheme will also commence from 2nd August, 2023 without any fee. Also, if not converted now, all existing students will be automatically converted without any fee in the New Scheme after declaration of November/December, 2023 Exams results.

CA Foundation Registration
The CA Foundation registration process is completely online. To check whether you are eligible to register read ca foundation course eligibility. ICAI has a centralized self-service (CDS) portal to manage the process of registration and submitting self-attested documents. Registration can be done using this registration link.

Once you open this link you can easily enter the fields required and continue your registration step by step. All administrative interactions throughout the life cycle of a CA student are done through the online portal and there is no need for personal visit to the ICAI Office for submission of physical documents.
Step-by-Step CA Foundation Registration Process
- Step 1 - Open this & registration link
- Step 2 - Fill up the details asked on the page. Please keep in mind -
- Enter SALUTATION, NAME, DOB and GENDER as per your 10th / 12th CERTIFICATE.

Enter MOBILE NO. and E-MAIL id carefully as all important communications and otp from ICAI will be sent to these only.
Once you finish step 2 you will receive an email from ICAI which would be stating

Step 3 - Use the link and the credentials provided in step 2 by icai on mail to login, then click on
- Student Function
- Course registration
- Apply for Foundation Course
- Step 4 - Fill up all the details asked such as your address, parent's name, the score obtained in 10th std and 12th std, etc
- Step 5 - Upload your scanned picture and all the required documents.
Step 6 - Make the payment. After this, your registration would be complete.
The validity period for registration in the Foundation Course is for 4 years from the first eligible attempt in the Foundation Examination.
You will receive an email from ICAI about the same and within sometime also get a student registration number. Student registration number is like your unique roll number with icai. This number would be assigned to you not only till you clear your CA foundation exams, but through-out your journey of becoming a CA.

This fee includes the amount for CA Foundation Books published by ICAI, which are to be ordered by students online through the ICAI CDS portal.
Eligibility to enroll in CA Foundation Course
Students can enroll in CA Foundation course after passing the Class 10th Examination conducted by an examining body constituted by law in India or an examination recognized by the Central Government as equivalent thereto.
However, a candidate can write CA Foundation Exams only after appearing in the Class 12th Examination.
Exemptions
The following categories of students are eligible to register directly for ICAI CA Inter Course without passing the CA Foundation:
- Category 1 Student
- Graduates or Post Graduates from Commerce stream having secured in aggregate a minimum of 55% of the total marks or its equivalent grade in the examination conducted by any recognized University (including Open University).
- Graduates or Post Graduates other than those falling under Commerce stream having secured in aggregate a minimum of 60% of the total marks or its equivalent grade in the examination conducted by any recognized University (including Open University).
- Category 2 Student
- Candidates who have passed CMA Intermediate or CS Executive examination
Please note that there is no restriction on what stream students can appear for CA exams. Hence irrespective of whether a candidate took science, commerce, or arts they are eligible to register for the Foundation course after passing their class 10th examination.
CA Foundation Course Student Journey -
For example,
You have registered for CA Foundation in April 2023 after giving class 12th exams. So you will be eligible to give Foundation exam in Nov/Dec 2023 attempt only and not in May/June 2023 attempt as you have to complete 4 months study period before your exams.
